Philosopher Walk @ Kyoto

9:06 PM

The Philosopher's Path (哲学の道, Tetsugaku no michi) is a pleasant stone path lined by hundreds of cherry trees, making this one of the city's most popular hanami (cherry blossom viewing) spots.

Approximately 2 kilometers long, the path begins around Ginkakuji (Silver Pavilion) and ends in the neighborhood of Nanzenji. The path gets its name from one of Japan's most famous philosophers, Nishida Kitaro, who is thought to have used the route for daily meditation.

We took bus no.100 from Kyoto Station and alight at Ginkakuji-michi stop, then stroll along Shirakawa Sosui Dori until we reach Philosopher's Path...
Bus fare: 220 Yen

It takes approximately 30 minutes to complete the walk along this path, but normally people would spend more time here, especially in the cherry blossom season... we walk, we stop, we sight and we snap photos.

There was a stall selling warm yam cakes, and ice creams. I tried the yam cake, nothing great, but feels good to hold something warm in my hand.

I did not buy the ice cream, it was so cold at that time, i didn't have the mood to eat.

Some houses nearby...

Straight trees... really straight!
