Udon @ Takamatsu

7:15 PM

Takamatsu is well known for its udon, which is better and cheaper than anywhere else in Japan. There are literally hundreds of udon shops within the city limits. Because local foods are often a driving force in Japanese tourism, many people flock to the city for the udon, often doing "chain-eating" tours around the city to the more famous shops.

Breakfast

So we went to have our very first udon meal at a udon shop nearby after we spent half a day @ Ritsurin Garden.

What special about this shop is that we get to cook our own udon, the worker will weigh the udon before they put them into the bowl, so every bowl has the same amount of udon. Then the bowl with udon was passed to us and will cook the udon, pour in the soup and finally season with some union and fried raddish. I top the dish with a fried octopus.

The noodle was fairly thick and chewy, but the fried octopus was not much to my liking because it's abit cold, wasn't crunchy anymore and make it taste quite oily.
Price: 320 Yen

Lunch & Dinner

On the way back to the hotel from Yashima Plateau, we had our lunch + dinner at the udon shop next to Takamatsu City Hotel.

I ordered Kamadama udon (just plain udon with a raw egg on top). I didn't like it because it's weird where the udon was stirred with just a raw egg and nothing else, there's no soup and it's totally tasteless.
Price: 450 Yen

The weird udon i had tasted earlier make me felt so dissatisfied that I had to go and get an after dinner snack.

I got a bacon potato pie from McDonald's (120 Yen). It was wayyyyyy delicious than that udon just now..... :D
